I have had my fare share of wild animal attacks, inlcuding a black rhino, and African elephants, snake and the most feared Cape Buffalo.
Somehow I think people cant imagine the ferocity, and venom that an animal puts into an attack. It doesnt simply begin , and simply end with one action. The coup de gra( ?) from the attacker is what does the damage. Its never a simple glancing blow. When a rhino thinks its just about got you, the head moves in the most fearsome movement of any animal I have ever seen.
So this brings me to how the predators strike with such devestating effects. Well actually sometimes they dont get what they after. The first image is of Suddibar, he was attacked by a tiger, whilst cutting foliage for his elephant. He was grabbed by the back of the head, and fought a long battle with the tiger, until rescued by his elephant. Some of you would have heard me talk of Suddibar, and there is a lot more to the story. I saw the wound to his head , neck and shoulder. Ferocious indeed, and too gorrie to show. A metal plate has replaced the part of his shull that was crushed. Suddibar is on the right of the picture.
I asked him what he thought of the tiger, and he replied that he loved it. The tiger was later caught, and he was given the choice of killing it or saving it. He chose to save it.
Ive got a busy week ahead with tracking courses, but I will keep posting feeding sign. Next will be elephants being predated, with one of the most upsetting images I have in my collection.
