Typically this time of year turn to mantracking and getting practice for the months ahead. Over the next few days and nights I will re-hone mantracking skills.
I will get onto grass at night for the next week, until Ive got that cracked. Its is a tricky substrate. Grass is rarely mown at this time of year, except where livestock is present or sports fields. If sheep have been there, it is very difficult, not just because of their hooves, but they graze just above the root, which means that any human track will spring pretty much immediatly. Lawn mowers create a grain, and its a little easier.
As for the best colours and techniques for tracking on grass. Every few years I review techniques. This year Im going to use blue.
