Intermediate Level

The Intermediate course will immerse you deeper into the world of the tracker expanding your knowledge base and increasing the tools you can use to explore the world around you.

As the school has evolved Max has built an experienced and competent team of instructors and mentors who will support you in taking your next steps into the magical world of the tracker.

The Shadowhawk team will make you feel at home in the woods and show you techniques to locate and observe the wildlife that is all around you – not only in nature but also in town, at home and at work.

The shadowhawk Intermediate Tracking Course takes your tracking to the next level. The intensive course is designed to hone your tracking skills and expand your knowledge. We will
cover:

  • The Science of Tracking
  • Man-tracking the next level
  • Spoor pit and action indicators
  • Micro and Macro Action Indicators
  • Further Track Analysis
  • Gaits & Gait patterns
  • Visualisation techniques
  • Psychological techniques for tracking
  • Tracking in Teams
  • Advanced awareness and the “noom” technique
  • Bird language & concentric circles
  • Ageing of tracks and feeding sign
  • Basic FAST ADAPTIVE TRACKING TECHNIQUES
  • Peeling Back
  • Tracking over challenging substrates
  • Hi Tech Tracking – Day & night
  • Application of tracking skills to conservation and wildlife monitoring.

In 2008 this course is available 'Back to Back' with the Foundation tracking course.
