Track Africa

Selous National Park - Tanzania.

This exclusive Shadowhawk tracking adventure takes place in Selous Park in Tanzania, Africa in an area abundant with wildlife. Following in the footsteps of the great Victorian adventurer, Frederick Courtney Selous, after whom the park is named, you will track elephant, leopard, lion, rhino and cheetah, along with hyena, buffalo and other animals. Selous has a flourishing bird population; in particular, you will see many birds of prey here.

Max has trained and worked with the rangers in the park for many years; he also came here last year to film Big Cat Tracks for the Discovery Channel – it is an area he knows well. Tracking on foot Shadowhawk will get you up close to animals, closer than you ever believed possible. You will meet local tribesman, who will share their knowledge and experience of native plant life and animal tracking with you.

This is a unique and amazing opportunity to really experience big game tracking close up and personal. The Shadowhawk Wildlife Tracking Expedition will immerse you in the world of wildlife and tracking. You will be learning more of the magical skills of the tracker during your time in the park, however it is strongly recommended that you attend a weekend course prior to the journey so that you can get the best out of being in the bush.

Each day will be a different experience; the following is just an example:

  • Begin with a leisurely breakfast and check out any night time activities around the camp
  • Then out into the bush to track
  • We will divide into groups and join the rangers on patrol in the park
  • Prepare to be totally absorbed and a little scared
  • Don’t forget to take those unique, amazing photos
  • This is the real thing – just you, the bush and the wild animals
  • Return to the camp for lunch
  • Then back out for more real live dirt time during the afternoon
  • Get an insight into the sharp end of conservation with the anti-poaching patrols
  • You may see lion, buffalo, black and white rhino amongst others
  • Elephant will be close by too
  • On return to camp enjoy a welcome cold drink while watching the stunning African sunset and reflecting on the day

In 2008 this course will run in February and again in September.

This course is Full Board but does not include alcoholic beverages.

Cost £1300 (not including flights)
