Shadowhawk Tracker School

Today I saw an amazing sight. As I went into the woods I was followed in by a buzzard, who swoopes from branch to branch, staying very close to me. I know that buzzards are clever, and it would have known that I was likley to cause a bird to fly out of the undergrowth. There are pheasants in the woods, and the buzzard was counting on the fact that one would shoot out. But that didnt happen. I saw a pheasant move through the undergrowth, and then like like a leopard from a tree the buzzerd dropped to the ground, and started to hop after the pheasant. When the pheasant stopped, the buzzard stopped, and then like lightning the buzzard broke into a run and pounced on the pheasant.
As we get close to our tracking course next week, we will be teaching people how to piece together the jigsaw, and interpret tracks.
Of course I wanted to see what tracks were made during the hunt. I hadnt seen what had happened it would have been very difficult to interpret.
A pheasant being hunted on the ground by a buzzard!
